Stabilisation of Spiral Fracture of the Distal Tibia
using
Poller (Blocking) screws

-
Basic Technique for Easier Understanding

Spiral fractures of the distal tibia can be quite difficult to reduced by closed means, i.e with a nail without using a poller screw(s).

Bellow I am presenting the case for basic understanding of the poller screw technique using a nail to compress the fracture.  I am expecting this fracture to heal in 3 months time with minimal callus. Patient will be full weight bearing throughout the treatment.

Suggestion:
Try and draw a vertical line though the middle of the nail in the ap view.

Further 6 weeks down the line...
