Referral for consideration of knee surgery
Symptoms refractory up to 6 months in nonsurgical treatment (with core and at least one additional non-operative therapy) should be referred for surgical review.
Patient should present with significant joint symptoms including pain stiffness and reduced function with all of the symptoms having significant impact on their quality of life and are refractory to non-surgical treatment. Patient should be referred before prolong and established functional limitation and severe pain.
Radiographic rate of disease should not be a barrier for referral neither should be age, gender, smoking, obesity, diabetes or comorbidities.
